1976-2026- Join us in celebrating the Museum at 50!
The Gaston County Museum of Art & History has grown from it's humble beginnings in the Historic Dallas Courthouse in 1976 to a museum with national accreditation and impact. In 2026, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our beloved art and history museum, (and the 250th anniversary of America), you'll see a bright new logo around town! Read more about how our logo has changed over the years, and what 50 years looks like for your museum!

The Museum’s 50th anniversary logo builds on the museum's visual language by transforming its geometric forms into shapes reminiscent of fabric motifs, reinforcing the main museum logo's clean lines and balanced design while evoking a sense of craft.
This identity embodies the museum's mission by evoking how art and history are interlaced to tell Gaston County's story. Each component reads like a piece of a larger quilt, coming together to form a unified whole. This directly reflects the museum's vision of being a gathering place where shared heritage creates connection.
Geometric shapes, drawing from a color palette based on the artwork of Dr. John T. Biggers, show how the museum stitches together moments past and present, revealing a living tapestry that continues to grow. The "50" mark functions as a structured framework for visual storytelling, a space where each segment becomes a distinct patch, holding pieces of the community's shared legacy.
This logo becomes a modular quilt of Gaston County's people, places, and histories. It makes the anniversary mark not only a symbol, but a container; an exhibition in miniature.
