About The Collections
The Museum, accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, holds in trust for current and future generations over 5,000 objects, 20,000 documents, and over 400,000 photos. Each of these enables the Museum to weave the story of Gaston County and its people from the 1500s through the 21st century.
While the Collections and Archives cover a vast array of items, the bulk of the collection consists of art, textiles, archives, furnishings and household items. As a federally designated 501c3 organization, the museum gratefully accepts donations to support its exhibits, programs, research, preservation and public interpretation.
